This microcourse discusses the major concepts, issues and strategies involved in assessing student learning in the online environment. Focus is on exploring alternative and authentic methods, designing an assessment plan that is aligned with the intended learning outcomes specified in the Integrated Learning Model.
Various online assessment methods are examined such as the take-home exam, un-proctored objective tests, minute paper, audio & video presentations, e-portfolios, quizzes for formative assessment and so forth. Also discussed are the benefits of online assessment, various issue and challenges of online assessment such as authentication, academic honesty and others.
